My Grandpa John

I want to share a story about why I love my grandparents so much.  Growing up we lived in Connecticut but would spend a lot of time in Colorado during the summers, this was by far my favorite part of growing up.  This meant lots of family to visit and lots of fun things to do. I always loved going to Deer Trail, loved seeing my Grandpa Don, he was always so funny. I loved seeing all his work equipment. I had no idea what any of it did, but it was big and loud. He also owned the local hardware store which was super cool to hang out in.  My favorite memory for there was the Jolly store next door. Walking in it had that old time grocery store feel and smell, you couldn't find anything like it in Connecticut.  I used to always get ice-cream! Grandpa Don still has the hardware store but it is long past its prime and is in need of some tlc.
It always seemed we would start in Deer Trail visiting Grandpa Don and Linda, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Deanna and occasionally seeing Uncle David and Aunt Margie. Uncle Jeff and  Aunt Deanna always had the coolest dogs and the coolest cars. The one and only time I was ever on a horse was Uncle Davids horse he had dogs to but I was always scared of them. These are memories that will never be replaced.  From there we would end up in Pueblo visiting Grandma Louise and Grandpa John. This was always my favorite part. I have never told anyone this because I never wanted to hurt anyone’s feelings, but truly my favorite.  Grandma was the first to introduce me to Sunday school and I loved it! She was always making something and she always smelled like Oil of Olay! Now grandpa John, he has always been a character to me.  Two of my most favorite movies of all times, Charlie and the Chocolate factory and the Never Ending Story are truly because of Grandpa John’s choices at the video store on summer.  He bought me paper dolls and always let us take over the TV when we visited. He used to take my brother fishing all the time, I used to play with my paper dolls and hang out with grandma.  These memories are my fondest because they spent time with us. They worked jobs but still made time for us. I love all my family, but these memories, these memories are what I remember the most. These are the memories are the reasons I stay in Deer Trail close to Grandma and Grandpa.  Through the past 15 years since I moved back my kids have developed the same bond with my grandparent s that I had during those summer months growing up.
As I sat and watched my grandpa yesterday, I cried and laughed. He is still a character, but I cried because I know he doesn't have much time left.  He talked about Jesus, and Cowboys and Indians, and how he is going to Jerusalem.  I took comfort in knowing he is walking with Jesus, but my heart hurts, it hurts for my grandma and for my children.  Most of all my heart hurts because I will miss my most favorite grandpa of all.

I'm Just Doing My Job!

Hi my friends, Have you missed me???? I am here to vent my annoyance of many, many people this fine 97 degree day. My day started out like any other average Wednesday, then just got progressively worse as the place got hotter and customers got more hostile. So here is a few things I would like to say, I am just doing my job! I'm not trying to collect money from you because I love confronting hostile customers who don't like to pay their bill, NO I'M DOING MY JOB! When I ask you to pay what you owe, its not personal, I'M DOING MY JOB!  I don't care who you are, or who your related to, if my boss asks me to do something I do it. Lets not pretend we are friends, let us just remember we are just customer and cashier. But let me clarify, because I am a cashier does not give you the right to be rude and obnoxious towards me when I am doing my job. Does it make you feel better to shout?????? AWWW that's sad that you get your kicks at belittling me in my place of employment. Do not be mistaken, I take my job seriously and do it well, if you don't like me just know I am not losing sleep over it honey. I'm not here to make friends, I'M JUST DOING MY JOB :)

Really? WOW!

Ok so most of you know that I have a 17 year old daughter. I think she is absolutely beautiful but her looks are starting to tick me off. Now before you go all ninja on me I mean this in a respectful way. So at what point do mothers of obviously attractive teen girls get used to grown adult men staring at them? Any ideas? Anyone got a time line for this? So here is what happened yesterday: Alexis and I are walking through the store when these two GROWN men are gawking at my kid. I know I have to refrain from yelling profanities at them because well I wouldn't want my child to never speak to me again.( well maybe) So they proceed to follow us through the store staring at my kids ASS! Yes I said ass, see what I have resorted too. I felt like jumping up and down waving my hands like an idiot screaming " HELLO MOM STANDING HERE"! Is this allowed?I mean is it normal to want to shout this? I am of course new to this teenager thing. I mean really, is this how much respect they learned from their mamas? Was there a lesson that only boys were part of in grade school that went about like this: If you see a pretty girl don't forget to drool while staring at her butt! Well if there was I am sure glad I was absent that day and shame on the these men! So if any of you moms out there can give me an estimated time frame of when I will get used to this. I do have 2 other daughters who will be teenagers someday. ;)

Ummm Hello SIr!

So you all know about my glamorous job as a cashier at the "Byers Sinclair" pause for dramatic effect!!! So as many of you know I never make people prepay I just don't do it, so this nice man fills his diesel truck then comes in to pay his bill. He brings to the counter a bag of chex mix, I ring it up and his $118.00 in diesel fuel. He hands me a $10.00 bill an says "oh was that for the fuel also?" HELLO when was the last time you paid $118 for chex mix? Man if this is the case I never ever want to shop where this guy shops. Then we establish he wants his fuel rang up separately after his obvious confused look about the total for his chex mix. I would just like to thank Mr. Chex mix for my entertainment for this fine Wednesday!! ;)

Graduation Anticipation

After many sleepless nights I have decided to go ahead and walk in my graduation. I know Mable will be looking down on me with pride! So I hope she understands why I cannot attend her funeral. OK so now on to what is weighing on my  mind, GRADUATION!!!!!! I feel like a little kid stressing about walking across that stage. WHAT if I fall on my face cuz ya know I got this bum ankle and sometimes walking is just not easy for me.... Then there is the horrifying fact that I will be graduating with ummm a bunch of people I have never even spoken too, oh the horror!!!!! Yes so I actually feel like I am 10 years old and have to stand on stage for some sort of contest to see who has learned the most   :p  yes this is my life I am super excited but scared out of my wits all at the same time. On top of all this I ordered the cutest pair of shoes for the occasion and( mind you I only paid $6.00 plus shipping) I get these most awesome shoes in the mail only to have my heart break and realize these shoes will make me at least 9 feet tall..... This just is not going to work well with the bum ankle :( On goes the search of another great pair of almost awesome shoes... Wish me luck and Make Good Choices :)

Tic-Tacs are inportant to life

So It has been awhile since my last blog and I'm back with vengeance! Today must be the day where everyone who needs gas also needs a Tic-Tac. I mean good Lord if i can tell my breath stinks shouldn't everybody else? I dont get much excitement in this job so I spend a lot of time talking to people to pass the time but NOT today. It seems every person I have spoken to has horrid breath (.And as much as I hate to say it it is mostly men.) So here is my advice to you, when you leave  your house in the morning boys brush extra good cuz them girls will not be impressed. If you have doubt about your rancid breath just stop in for some Tic-Tac's. Go ahead and pop on in on the way to the counter to pay cuz this cashier just cant take it anymore!!!!! So remember rancid breath is only cute when your a puppy :)

Here's your sign :P

So we all look up to teachers right? Well when did they become so oblivious of the obvious??? So I am walking down the hall at the school yesterday, and when I say walk it is more like a hobble by this time of day. I have on flip-flops and my lovely ankle brace which is super attractive, and one of our Super smart  teacher says hello and asks "did you hurt your ankle"? NO, why would you ask that? I just really like walking like a 90 year old and well the ankle brace I like to wear it because my right ankle gets awfully cold when wearing flip-flops! Ok I have a lot of respect for teachers but really? LOL

:)
